Satellite Salon is a space for intentional hairdressing, authentic expression, and connection in Salt Lake City’s Lower Avenues. We believe hair can be playful, personal, and deeply expressive- a reflection of who you are and how you want to move through the world.
Founded by hairdresser, artist, and educator Rachael Ellis, Satellite brings together independent stylists with distinct perspectives and a shared commitment to thoughtful care. Each brings their own creativity and presence to the chair, making room for yours.

Hair that feels like you.Our team specializes in razor cutting, personalized haircuts, and color ranging from lived-in dimension to bold transformations. Whether you’re refining a familiar shape or exploring something entirely new, your appointment is a collaboration.
Our entire stylist team has worked backstage at New York Fashion Week, and founder Rachael Ellis also brings experience from Paris Fashion Week. Together with ongoing education and artistic exploration, these experiences inspire the work we bring home to you.
Responsibility in our daily practiceSatellite is Green Circle Certified, helping us recover and repurpose up to 95% of our beauty waste, including hair clippings, used foils, color tubes, and excess hair color. We also use a separate local service for cardboard and plastics.
Sustainability is an ongoing practice, reflected in how we handle materials and care for the space we share.

We are intentionally anti–beauty standard. We believe beauty is personal, expansive, and self-defined. Our work celebrates your individuality and supports your expression without treating your natural features as something to fix.

care beyond the chair.Giving back is part of how we participate in our community. Throughout the year, we offer bang trims at local markets in exchange for donations to community causes, turning a small service into an opportunity for shared support.
Our fundraising has supported Adopt-an-Elder, Bears Ears Coalition, SLC Mutual Aid, and Full Circle Intertribal Center. We also support Common Threads through donated services.
These connections are part of the life of Satellite: showing up, sharing our skills, and contributing to the people and organizations around us.

We welcome different artists to display their work in the salon, bringing new perspectives into the space and creating opportunities to connect with local creatives.
